Welcome

Raffles International School welcomes families from almost 100 different countries to our Nursery through to Year 13 programme. Our youngest pre-school learners are accommodated in our nursery and follow individualised learning pathways based upon ‘Development Matters’ - the earliest stage of EYFS, depending on their language background and personal development. This seamlessly leads into our exceptional British curriculum, right through to IGCSE, A Level and BTEC options for our pre-university 6th Form. While English is our main language of instruction, language support for students developing their English language skills is provided and all teachers ensure language is no barrier to learning.

With this website, we would like to share some of the amazing academic, social, sporting and cultural opportunities RIS provides our students and we welcome the opportunity to share this with you through our school tours or open days.

Facilities

RIS occupies a purpose built campus of almost 315,000 square feet of land in the heart of the Umm Sequim residential district of Dubai, close to the beach and overlooking the iconic Burj Al Arab.

Languages

Languages

English is the school’s medium of instruction and Arabic is mandatory for all students attending school in the UAE up to Year 12. Starting in Year 3, all students choose between French or Mandarin as an additional language. This language option continues to end of Year 9, at which time iGCSE subject options determine language choices.

Trips

Trips

From Early Years students visiting a local bakery to Secondary School students voyaging to Paris to study art, local and overseas trips enrich our students' experiences and enhance our curriculum. We value these trips as opportunities for students to grow socially and emotionally, as well as develop their independence and understanding of cultures, communities and the world around them.

Sports

Sports

Physical Education and sport is an integral part of Raffles International School. We encourage students to make physical activity central to their lives, both inside and outside of the classroom. We passionately believe a high-quality sports programme enables students to lead healthy and active lifestyles, while equipping them with valuable, transferable life skills.
